MY JOURNEY USING LINUX
First of all , I had to find a linux that satisfied my
needs. It should be easy to install, light enough to run on virtual machine ,
and should give a look which looks coding aesthetic and stylish. I tried to
install arch linux, failed successfully. Then I tried to install ubuntu, which
I succeeded, but it was simple looking, and I wanted to show off with design
and something that looked stylish programming. I don’t know how, but I crashed
on pop!_OS which was a failure. Why installing these os’es on virtual machine
is so hard?
I made virtual machines of windows xp, windows 7, windows 10
to check the capabilities of virtual machine. (in each case I gave ram size of
4 Gbs). Windows was working above my expectations. But linux has knocked me
out. But my craze for an OS for show off was not dampened. So again I set off.
Now finding my choice OS was a pure accident. I was trying
to download Batocera for retro gaming.(my new craze. Those who do not know
Batocera, it is linux version which is specifically designed for retro gaming.
Now, again, making a virtual machine failed. But I hit on garuda linux. I come
to know that this linux has something for gaming. So I decided to try it.
Failed successfully. First I tried garuda kde dragonized gaming version, but it
was specifically designed not to work on virtual machine. Because of my
encounter with ubuntu cinnamon, I knew that maybe garuda cinnamon would be easy
for me.
Now I tried to make a virtual machine, first failed two
times. The third time, it worked well. I don’t know how!(however I am going to
explain everything to you in the subsequent blogs and a complete coding and
gaming experience on it)
I would like to share that before this success, I tried a
thousand times, and to be precise, it was my 52nd time in making a
virtual mackine. Moreover I use an old laptop which has the specs
- Intel core i3
- No battery (used with
direct power supply)
- Very bad graphics
- 128 gb disk size (an old
hard drive)
- Been using it 24/7 for 11
years for multimedia and now programming at university
My main objective was to make my laptop fluent for
programming, multimedia and retro gaming. Kind of everything without spending a
little money.
